The majority of the world's countries drive on the right side of the road — approximately 165 countries and territories. Right-hand driving was standardized across much of continental Europe by Napoleon in the early 19th century, and later spread to colonies and territories of right-driving nations. Today, about 65% of the world's population drives on the right.
